NAPSA elects new Board of Directors
The National Australian Pharmacy Students' Association (NAPSA) has elected Shefali Parekh (Monash University, Melbourne) as their new President for the 2016/17 NAPSA term.
Miss Parekh was elected at NAPSA's Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the Monash University, Melbourne, over the weekend. She heads a new board comprised of a further seven (7) board directors, elected by NAPSA's organisational members.
The elected board of directors are:
James Buckley (James Cook University, Townsville)
Trong Nhan Do (Curtin University, Western Australia)
Angelica Lagoda (Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane)
Sandra Minas (La Trobe University, Bendigo)
Jessie O'Connor (University of Sydney, Sydney)
David Paulmert (Griffith University, Gold Coast) John Quinn (Griffith University, Gold Coast)
Miss Parekh said she looked forward to serving NAPSA members and acknowledged the excellent work of her predecessor Miss Eleanna Ballis.
"Over the past year, Eleanna has built on many strong foundations, relationships and core competencies to deliver sustainable benefits, opportunities and advocacy for Australian pharmacy students.
"I look forward to working with the board to provide further provide NAPSA with increased representation, member benefits, networking and educational opportunities for pharmacy students around the country."
Immediate Past President, Eleanna Ballis congratulated Miss Parekh and the new board on their appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to lead the association going forward.
"Shefali comes into the role of President with a great deal of experience and expertise after being a board of Director for the past year. Her passion will drive her to be a successful leader amongst her peers. This is an exciting time for NAPSA and I step down knowing that the association is in good hands."
At NAPSA's Annual Dinner over the weekend, Miss Ballis executed her final duties as President to induct two Honorary Life Members to the association:
- Sam Turner (Queensland University of Technology, Industrial Affairs Committee 2013-15, President 2014-15)
- Lauren Haworth (University of Tasmania, Pharmacy Awareness Chair 2013-14, Vice President 2014-15, Board Director
