My name is Ayomide and I am a Fourth Year Student currently completing my Bachelor of Pharmacy at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. I am so honoured to be part of the Executive Board as the Director of Public Relations for the 2017/2018 term.
I was first involved in my local branch/student association; WAPSA as a #ThirdYear representative in 2016. I am the current WAPSA Communications chair for the 2017 term and handle publications and social media alongside a committee full of students who are engaged in both their studies and the profession.
I attended my first NAPSA Congress in January 2016 in the ever tropical city of Townsville. Surrounded by engaged, like-minded individuals, my eyes were truly opened to the various career pathways that the profession has to offer. It was a week that reminded me to make the most of my studies and the opportunities and experiences that arise. This lead me to my first NAPSA position as the Vice Congress Chair for the NAPSA Congress in January 2017, held in my home city - Perth.
With a great passion for social media, public relations and marketing I am looking forward to creating and implementing strategy to improve NAPSA's overall engagement with key stakeholders and NAPSA members. An additional goal I have is to increase engagement with other national student associations within the health industry, and to work towards improving interprofessional collaboration, both now and for the future.
Regardless of how involved you are, or how far you are in your studies, there is room for you. Get involved in your local branch, apply for a NAPSA position, join your state ECP working group. Do whatever you can do to be more present and involved in the profession.
Strive to do more, be engaged and decide what legacy you will leave behind because it will be lasting
