Hello, my name is Tahlia Murador and it is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the Executive Director of External Affairs for 2017/2018. I am currently in my 4th year of a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.) at the University of Queensland in Brisbane.
Pharmacy hasnít always been a passion of mine, it was quite a last minute decision that was made when it came time to apply for university. However, now in my final year of study, I canít imagine myself doing anything else. My passion for pharmacy is definitely driven towards community pharmacy, which I knew was for me when I started my first job in a community pharmacy. I was lucky enough to work with an incredible pharmacist who was well respected in the community. I knew straight away that I wanted to be that type of pharmacist in the future.
Growing up in a small town in Far North Queensland, I never would have thought that I would be in the position I am in today. I was unaware of the opportunities that were available to students through pharmacy student associations. After attending the NAPSA congress in Townsville, and meeting so many passionate and like-minded people from across Australia, I knew I wanted to become much more involved. I was voted a year level representative in my local branch, the Queensland Pharmacy Studentsí Association (QPSA), in my 3rd year, and was re-elected again in 4th year. I love working with the team on QPSA, which encouraged me to apply for a NAPSA Board position. Iím lucky enough to be working alongside so many passionate and enthusiastic students in NAPSA, proving that the profession is looking to be a great one in the years to come.
My role on the board involves working with industry bodies to create new opportunities for NAPSA and local NAPSA branches, as well as working with Alumni to form a strong bond between current and past NAPSA members.
