Hi, my name is Rachel and I am in my third year of the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. My involvement with my local branch, GUAPS, has been as President as well as Rural, Indigenous and International Chair. I am thrilled to be joining the NAPSA team for the 2017/18 term as the NAPSA Rural and Indigenous Chair!
I grew up in the Wamuran of the mid 1990s which is no doubt where my passion for rural practice comes from. Although Wamuran is PhARIA category 1, it lies in the centre of a large fruit growing district and I grew up with that small town, farming and rural area feel. I believe that rural pharmacy is an amazing opportunity that every pharmacy student should be exposed to throughout their career and I am looking forward to playing a greater part in educating our future pharmacists about the possibilities and benefits of going rural.
It is my goal to use my term as RANDI chair to promote rural pharmacy to the best of my abilities, to facilitate the placement of any students willing to get out there and to focus on funding for rural placements. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about rural pharmacy, rural placement or anything else I might be able to help with!
